A book stand is a great gift idea for every true book lover. Currently available types range from straight forward wire devices like the Fold’N'Stow that supports a book at variable angles on virtually any flat surface, to the infinitely more elaborate LEVO Bookholder that holds a book in either a floor stand model or a clamp-on design that securely clamps to any table, desk, or counter top. Most book stand models work best with hardcovers, but they also can function very well with paperback books when they are mounted within book holders like an OpenPage.
The Fold’N'Stow is one of the most affordable of book stands. It folds virtually flat and comes with it’s own plastic pouch designed for easy placement in a 3 ring binder. It may be placed on a countertop for cook books, or the top of any desk, table, workstation, bench, etc. Wire arms with page holders extend out from the back plane to secure the covers and open pages of your book, and, by moving the arms either closer together or farther apart, smaller and larger books are easily accommodated. The back of the stand also has horizontal pieces that may be raised or lowered to adjust the angle at which the book is held relative the substrate.
The most popular model of the LEVO book stand is the LEVO floor standing model, which features a weighted rolling base for easy movement from chair side to bedside to desk side to beside the kitchen counter top. Wherever you choose to put it, it can hold your book in just about any position you can imagine. With a bookboard that adjusts into virtually any position, and combined with a book mounting mechanism that will secure your book, even in an inverted position, the LEVO makes reading truly hands-free practically anywhere.
The LEVO Desk Clamp on design is just as handy as the LEVO Floor Model, but features a clamp that securely attaches to any desk, table, counter top, work bench or other flat surface up to two inches thick, and offers the same movements as the floor stand model, without the range of telescoping movements vertically. By supporting your book up off the surface to which it is secured, the desk model saves the weight and expense of the weighted base while still freeing up valuable work space, since neither your book nor your book holder rest on the working surface.
While there are other book stand designs now available, the LEVO and Fold’N'Stow book stands have stood the test of time and stand up well to heavy use.
